JNTER-HOUSE SPORTS

SATURDAY’S ATTRACTION The Timaru business girls interhouse sports to be held on Saturday will be the third gathering, and this year 16 teams will participate. The programme arranged by representative girls from business houses of Timaru includes 20 team events, an individual flat race of 100 yards, and two spectacular marching events. The Fraser Cup and the Vinnell Cup, whicn were won last year by the Athletic Club and J. R. McKenzie's A team respectively, will be competed for by Timaru teams, and Mrs W. G. Tweedy, the Mayoress, will present trophies to the visiting team winning a first or second place. Leaders of the maze march will be Misses Oliphant, Prosser, D. Strachan and M. Henderson. Local teams competing are Ballantyne and Co., C.F.C.A., Thomson’s, J. R. McKenzie’s, Canterbury Shoe Coy., J. R. Bruce Ltd., Y.W.C.A., Girl Citizens and two combined teams from clerical staffs. Mr C. N. Hamilton will supervise the sports, Colonel Inglis and Mr E. Andrews will marshal the march past and members of the Athletic Association will assist in marshalling and judging the events. The Municipal Band will give the musical programme and Mr M. Grant will be at the megaphone.
