INDUSTRIAL UPHEAVAL IN THE AIR
United Press Association—Bj Electric Telegraph Copyright (Received September 4, 6.30 p.m.) PARIS, September 3. A new strike wave threatens the northern industrial areas. In addition to the textile workers and dockers, 1100 Little tramway workers have struck for higher wages.
WORKERS’ VIGOROUS PROTEST MORE THREATS OF STRIKE United Press Association—By Electric Tel Paraph—Copyright (Received September 4, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 3. The Paris correspondent of “The Daily Telegraph" says: “Twenty thousand Little jute workers are protesting against a 15 per cent wage reduction. Coal owners and miners reached an agreement which has removed the fear of a strike. The miners will work an extra eleven days for six months from September 1 in return for a six per cent increase in wages. It is estimated the increased output will be 2,000,000 tons, saving £3,000,000, which was formerly sent abroad. The agreement will affect British exporters considerably. •
