LAWLESS OUTBREAKS IN PALESTINE United Press Association —By Elect ri< Telegraph—Cnn vrlpht JERUSALEM, August 26. It is officially stated that 16 persons were killed and 30 injured at Jaffa by a bomb explosion. In the subsequent sniping, stoning and arson the police fired on Arabs who were attacking the police stations and banks. Troops are checking looting. The Jaffa and Telaviv fire brigades are fighting a series of outbreaks. The shops and banks have been closed and the situation is easing. LOSS IN AIR FORCE PILOT AND OBSERVER KILLED United Pres? A pilot and an observer were killed when a Royal Air Force machine made a forced landing north of Tulkarem, while co-operating with the troops repulsing an attack on a military ration convoy, in which engagement eleven bandits were killed. The battle lasted four hours. Killed in Explosion An official message states that 23 I were killed at Jaffa in a bomb ex- I plosion. The curfew has been imposed. BRITAIN’S STRONGER FORCES INFANTRY AND POLICE TO BE REINFORCED United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 28. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, August 27. To-day 120 recruits for the Palestine police force left London. Another batch of 230 is expected to leave before the end of September. Early in September an infantry brigade to reinforce the garrison in Palestine will leave England.
