NAILED TO CROSS

Former Convict’s Grim Experience Revenge for Rebuff to Crooks Pierced Hands and Feet Unit'd Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 28, 7.30 p.m.) RENO, August 27 A passing motorist found Edward Collins, a former convict, naked, and nailed to a rough wooden blood-coated cross, lying on the roadside, with spikes driven in his hands and one through both feet. The man told the police that two former prison associates known as “Swede” and “Dago,” had met him coming from a church meeting and compelled him, at pistol point, to steal the lumber strips, and stretch upon a cross they made just like that which held Christ, because he refused to “pull some jobs” with them. They poured kerosene over and burned his clothes. Collins has been taken to hospital and is expected to recover.
