STAR BEAT TEMUKA
Upset in Senior Competition Old Boys Defeated by Waimate Ragged Display Gaining control in the final stages of the game, Star beat Temuka, the competition leaders, by eight points to nil, at Fraser Park on Saturday. On No. 2 ground Old Boys were defeated by Waimate in an uninspiring display by eight points to three, and at Geraldine the home team proved too good for Celtic emerging the winners by 15 points to niil. The surprise defeat of Temuka has put a different complexion on the senior competition. If Temuka had proved victorious on Saturday they would have won the competition outright being two points ahead of Waimat-? and three ahead of Star, but their defeat now place Waimate on an equal footing with Temuka each team having 14 points, with Temuka still one game to play. Star is close behind with 13 points. Owing to the death of P. Campbell's father, the Old Boys team all wore black armlets.
