REMNANT OF FEUDAL DAYS.— One of the most noted buildings in Japan is the Castle of Osaka, situated just outside the City of Osaka. The castle is surrounded by great stone walls and has seen many vicissitudes in the varied history of the nation. Founded in 1583 by Hideyoshi, the castle, survived capture by Iyeyasu in 1615, and is now utilised as military, headquarters, containing a garrison and an arsenal.
