OBITUARY
MRS C. M. BURDON The death occurred yesterday morning of Mrs C. M. Burdon, of "Parkhurst,” Woodbury, Geraldine. Mrs Burdon arrived in New Zealand from Surrey, England, in 1902, and since then had lived at Woodbury. She was always interested in social welfare and was unsparing in any effort to better the lot of the unfortunate. A member of the vestry of St. Mary’s, Geraldine, Mrs Burdon had always been a keen worker in the parish. She was a member of the Howard Penal Reform League, and also played an active part on the Geraldine District Nurse Committee. Since the formation of a branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union at Geraldine, Mrs Burdon had taken a leading part in the activities of the branch and was president for some time. Before coming to New Zealand, Mrs Burdon spent her early married life in West Virginia, U.S.A., and she had travelled widely in Europe. Her husband predeceased her in 1920. Mrs Burdon leaves a family of three, Mr C. C. Burdon, Captain R. M. Burdon (Geraldine) and Mr G. L. Burdon (Pembroke).
