LATEST ADVICES I The Port Whangerei which was delayed in port on Wednesday loaded yesterday for Tauranga and Whangerei and sailed last evening for Lyttelton. The Waimarino called from Bluff yesterday and, after taking Wellington and Auckland shipments, departed ; for Lyttelton. The Gale was another arrival yesterday, calling from Dunedin for Wellington. The Port Waikato should be here from Dunedin to-morrow for Wellington and Auckland loading. She is listed to depart via Lyttelton that night. The Holmlea will not call at Timaru this voyage and will be replaced by the Holmglen, which is due on Monday from Dunedin to load lor Wellington, New Plymouth and Waikato. Ships Renamed Two British freighters which were recently bought by foreign shipping companies have been renamed. The steamer Siltonhall, of 4.831 tons gross, was purchased by Leonhardt end Blumburg, of Hamburg, from the West Hartlepool S.N. Company Ltd., for approximately £75,000 and her new owners have named her Luise Leonhardt. The Queen Eleanor has been named Pelorum by her new Italian owners. Ruahine at Colon The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Ruahine, which left London on July 2, arrived at Colon on Wednesday morning. She is. coming via Suez, and is due at Wellington on August 19. Rebuilding Scheme The Barossa is the third r-w freighter to be delivered to the Adelaide S.S. Company Ltd. in its reb-.-ild-ing scheme. The Beltana and the Bungaree, which were delivered last year, are both of more than 3000 tons gross, but the Barossa, with a gross tonnage of 3,800, is the largest of the 27 freighters owned by the company. She brings the total number of vessels owned by the company to 31, including four passenger ships. The Barossa was specially built for the Adelaide S.S. Co. Ltd., for the Australian coastal trade by the Caledon Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. Ltd., of Dundee. She has a cruiser stern, and is 367 ft long, 50ft 2in in breadth, and 24ft 2in in depth. During the week ended June 24, 986 vessels representing 1,043,258 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these 532 vessels <865,567 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports and 454 vessels (177,691 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included eleven meat cargoes, viz.: five from Australia, three from New Zealand and three from South America, comprising 490,000 carcases of I..mb and mutton, 175,000 quarters of beef, quantities of pork, rabbits and sundries.
