Automobile Association To Celebrate Taxation Programme Approved It is intention of the Automobile Association (South Canterbury) to celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary next October in a fitting manner. At ■' a meeting of the council of the Association last night, the following tentative programme was approved: Thursday, October 13, smoke concert at Bay tea rooms, at which representatives of the motor trade will be entertained. Friday, October 14—“ At Home,” in club rooms; conversazione in club rooms, at which ex-committeemen will be entertained. Saturday, October 15—Motor run to Waimate; tea at Knottingly Park; return via Kelcy’s Bush. Tuesday, April 18—Dance in Bay Hall. Those present were Messrs S. G. McClelland (chairman), R. Wilson, H. W. | Lomas, W.‘ J. Foote, J. M. Jenkins, J. . Palliser, N. P. Nelson, G. J. Walker, J. Palliser, M. B. Richards and A. R. Graham. It was decided to accept an invitation to meet the Timaru Borough Council in the Council Chambers on Monday next to discuss various traffic problems. The service officer (Mr F. T. Owers) reported that owing to the bad state of the Elephant Hill Creek on the 120 highway, signs were erected at each end, also at Wilson’s and Brown’s corners, warning motorists of the position and advising them to use the all weather route. He understood that at this point the Minister for Public Works (Hon. R. Semple) was held up and in the circumstances the time might be opportune to draw the attention of the Main Highways Board to the creek. The proposal was approved. Thirteen new members were elected.
