GATEWAY OF BADIISITAIII MASJID.— Badhhshahi Masjid was built by Aurangzeb, one of the greatest of the Mogul Emperors of Hindustan, who reigned in. the seventeenth century. Aurangzeb was extremely pious and built a number of temples in India but Badhshahi Masjid is one of the most famous. It is a high building of massive design but it lacks the detailed ornamentation typical of so many of the Indian temples. Badhshahi Masjid is situated in the city of Lahore, in the Punjab district.
