MEETING WHEAT SHORTAGE

AMERICAN PROPOSAL OUTLINED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 14, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 13. Mr H. A. Wallace (United States Secretary for Agriculture) announced that the United States during the International Wheat Conference, which will open in London to-morrow, would propose an international overnormal granary plan, covering all major wheat-producing countries cl the world. Mr Wallace explained that it would bi an invitation to other countries to agree to co-operate with the United States in storing up wheat during the good crop years, lor use during years of scarcity. He added that other nations had not been consulted tn advance, but he hoped that the proposal would be received favourably since it was fc't that the plan would be advantageous to all producing countries and eventually might have a stabilising influence on world wheat prices.
