TEMUKA RATES
INCREASED LEVY To collect sufficient revenue to meet the estimated expenditure, including paying off the debit balance in the general account, it will be necessary to levy a general rate of 1 15-16 d in the £ on the capital value in the Temuka Borough. This was decided at a special meeting of the Temuka Borough Council held last night to consider the estimates for the ensuing year. This rate docs not allow for payment of the annual charges on street lighting and the Hospital Board levy. In order to meet these annual charges, £3-15 in the case of street lighting and £441/9/10 in the case of the Hospital Board, separate rates of Id in the £ and 8-25 d in the £ respectively, will be levied. The general rate for last year was 1 21-25 d in the £ and the new rate of 1 15-16 d in the £ represented an increase in rates as shown by the following table:— Rateable Value Increase £lOO 5/7 £l5O 8 5 £209 H/2 £3OO I* s 9 £4OO £l/24 £5OO £l/7'l! £6OO £l/13/6 £7OO £l/19/1 £BOO £2/4/8
