It is not easy to understand why the author of "Fool’s Melody,” who clearly k an experienced writer, should have elected to be anonymous so far as this book is concerned, for it Is a grand piece of work of which any writer could well be proud. "Fool’s Melody.” a long novel of nearly 500 pages, is a striking example of brilliant characterisation combined with intense drama, all sustained with remarkable power to the very end. The principal scene is the home of Dr. Leonard in West Sussex, and the chief character is a concert pianist who has been sent there, and forbidden to play the piano, because of a severe nervous breakdown. He had looked forward to several weeks of rest, but instead he had the most exciting and important experience of his life.
