DECREASES IN EXPORT 1 BUSINESS Interesting Comparisons Presented British Official Wireless (Received June 16, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, June 15. The exports of United Kingdom goods in May were valued at £38.164.810, compared with £37.266.307 in April, and £42.732,641 in May, 1937. The value of imports for those same periods was £75,393,773 in May, £73,679,570 in April, and £83,173,412 in May last year. Re-exports amounted to £7,177.179. e against £5,010.521 the month before, - and £7,392,694 a year ago. For the t first five months of the year, exports 7 show a decrease of £10,551.450 over the corresponding period of last year, and - amounted to £196.306.293. Imports are - £1,817,378 less than a year ago at I £393,427,311, and re-exports at £27,932,617 show a fall of £5,478.342. Of the decrease of nearly £8.000,000 in the value of imports in May, compared with May. 1937, over £5,000.000 is in respect to raw materials, and notably of raw cotton and wool, cotton and woollen manufactures, also the principal exports showing a decline in value against which there was a considerable increase in the value of machinery exported.
