WON BY THE AWATEA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright SYDNEY, June 14. The Awatea, Wanganella and Mariposa, when sighted through the haze, were almost in line, but the Awatea drew ahead and won an exciting race to be the first to enter Fydney Harbour. The Wanganella was second, but the Mariposa was gaining on her fast at the “finish.” Captain Da v ey said the Awatea encountered the “whole gale” on Saturday and Sunday, and the vessel was unable to make more than nine knots at one period.
