REBEL WARSHIPS IN ACTION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 15, 8.30 p.m.) MADRID, June 15. The Canarias and Almirante Cervera shelled Castellon, a portion of which the Republicans are still desperately defending. Two detachments of the Galician Army Corps of General Franco’s army, after overcoming a badly directed Loyalist resistance, entered Castellon and occupied the north-eastern section of the city. General Aranda’s troops also penetrated the outskirts, where savage street fighting is proceeding. The Loyalist resistance to the rebel advance is only sporadic. GERMANS IN SPAIN CAPTURE BY REPUBLICANS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright BARCELONA, June 14. Twenty-two rebels who were taken prisoners north of Castellon included 11 German infantry regulars. Tliis is the first time Germans fighting against the Loyalists have been captured. NO APPROACH BY PARTIES MEDIATION IN SPAIN BRITAIN READY TO TAKE ACTION British Official Wireless (Received June 15, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, June 14. Questioned in the House of Commons regarding mediation in Spain, the Prime Minister (Mr Neville Chamberlain) said that no proposals of this nature had been received from either side, but the British Government would continue to watch the situation and be ready to propose mediation, either alone or in conjunction with other countries, at any time when the prospects of successful action appeared favourable.
