CONTROL OF AIRWAY
SIR JOHN REITH’S NEW POSITION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 14. The Air Minister (Sir Kingsley Wood), informed the House of Commons that Sir John Reith, DirectorGeneral of the British Broadcasting Corporation, had been invited to become whole-time chairman of Imperial Airways. This invitation has been accepted by him. Announcing Sir John Reiths appointment as chairman of the Board of Imperial Airways, in the House of Commons, Sir Kingsley Wood (Air Minister) said the Imperial Airways Board had also nominated Sir James Price to be director of the company. The present managing director, Mr Woods Humphrey, had placed his resignation in the hands of the board, and it had been accepted. Sir Kingsley Wood mentioned that the Board was asking the new chairman to investigate the charges against the management of the company made in the House of Commons debate on May 31, and when that investigation had been completed, the Board proposed to make a public statement.
