"BLACK OUT” IN PAREORA
To the Editor of " The Tlmaru Herald ” Sir.—Through your columns I would ke to draw to the attention of those oncerned to the very inefficient serice being given to consumers of elecricity in Pareora by the South Canirbury Electric Power Board. During tie last few weeks, there has been a accession of power failures never beare experienced in the district. These ave caused great inconvenience to onsumers in the township, and the loard's officer has been generally critiised for the manner in which he has een looking after the Board’s affairs. will give you a few instances of these On May 26, at 7.45, the power fent off and was not returned till 8.15 j.m. On this night there was a confert on in the hall, and this was held ip for twenty minutes. On Friday ight, the 10th, the power again cut iut-it 7.50 p.m., and was not on again 1b10.50 p.m. The Pareora residents’ iali-was held this night, the result beng ’that dancers were left in the dark or two hours. Next day current again ailed at 9.30 and was not restored till 1*.45 in the afternoon. To cap off all ais, sir, there was a “black out” from Ive minutes past twelve on Saturday light till 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. All these faults were due to a switch md ransformer Installed at the freezworks, through which the townS ®P power has to pass. These, the F®ard saw fit to repair temporarily insJJSd of renewing, with the result that cdjlsumers are without power half the tihle. It is time there was a big imptavement in the service and if there K-not I am sure the Power Board and itjpjofficers will hear more about the niatter.—l am, etc., FED UP. 3>areora, June 12.
