N.Z. CHILLED BEEF
PRAISE FROM LONDON FAVOURABLE COMP/-RISON WITH ARGENTINE PRODUCT Gratification at seeing beef which for brightness and condition compared very favourably with Argentine ch’lied beef is expressed in advice received by the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association from the London office of W. and R. Fletcher (N.Z.), Limited, on 20 quarters of chilled beef sent to England from the Auckland Summer Show. Because the amount was comparatively limited, it was aecided not to have a display on Smithfield, but to make a special exhibit Tn of the beef in one of the company’s retail shops. The report states that the consignment was as good as any beef the office had yet seen from New Zealand. It was of excellent quality, although inclined to be on the wasteful side from the butchers’ point of view. The animals were judged alive at the show and were then .lied at Westfield before being judged again on the hooks, and it is stated that the butchering of the beef was excellent and much credit should go to the works lor theii efiorts.
