MINING NEWS For the week ended June 10 the dredge of the Clutha River, Ltd. operating at Alexandra, worked 122 hours and recovered 208 oz. of gold. The Mataki return for the period ended June 12 was 230 z.

PLEASANT POINT SALE MARKET UNCHANGED LARGE YARDING OF SHEEP , Wintry conditions were experienced I for the Pleasant Point sale, which u T as . held yesterday. Fat Cattle j About 50 head of fat cattle came forward, the quality being rather mixed. I The sale was on a par with late values. I The range was:— | Fat steers (best* £lO to £ll 12 6. I Fat steers (light). £7 to £9 26. ■ Fat cows ‘best), £9 to £lO 12 6 | Fat cows ‘medium), £7 to £8 26. ! Fat cows (light). £4 12 6to £6. I Fat heifers, £7 to £9 26. Store Cattle i A small entry sold as follows: I Bulls to £9. Empty heifers £3 17 6. ! Steers, £4 5-. Dairy Cattle j Good prices were paid for anything showing quality and close tj profit. j The range was:— j Springing heifers £5 to £ll 10/-. , Springing cows. £4 to £B. Fat Sheep ‘ The entry was a large one of three full races. Butchers appeared to be holding supplies and exercised care with their buying. She op suitable for export made prices the equal of late rates. Values were: Fat wethers ‘best) 26 - to 27 4. Fat wethers (light), 23 - to 24 4. Fat ewes ‘best). 15 - to 17 4. Fat ewes (medium). 13 - to 14 7. Fat ewes (light), 10 - to 11 10. Fat Lambs About 1200 fat lambs met with a keen sale at the following prices:— Fat lambs (best), 22 - to 24 4. Fat lambs (medium). 20 10 to 21/4. Fat lambs (light), 16 - to 18 7. Store Sheep A small yarding sold at unchanged rates. Values were:— 2-tooth wethers to 20 66. Wether lambs (small), 8 M.S. lambs. 11/3. Horses About 12 draught horses, including an outstanding 6-horse team, were offered to a, good attendance of farmers Bidding w r as keen and values showed a slight rise on late rates. Prices were:— 6-year-old geldings, 2 at £25 each. 4-year-old geldings to £29. 8-year-old geldings to £25. 8-year-old mares to £25/10/-.
