PURGE IN CENTRAL EUROPE New War on Jews ACTIVE ENEMIES OF STATE Jews Praise Britain United Press Association —By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 1, 11.20 p.m.) LONDON. June 1. Mystery surrounds the large number of arrests in Berlin and Vienna of persons allegedly engaged in smuggling opium and foreign currency, but it is significant that out of 339 persons arrested in Berlin 317 are Jews. The police raided two restaurants yesterday and arrested 76 persons, whom they state are criminals. Others are political suspects, and others foreigners with defective passports. The arrests in Vienna in the past few days are believed to number 2000. They include Jews and Aryans from many spheres, most of whom are accused of breaches of the currency laws. Others are allegedly Communists, accused of conspiring against the State. It is reported that more than 100 Jewish doctors were recently arrested, mainly on charges of performing illegal operations. FREEDOM FOR ALL RACES JEWISH PRAISE OF BRITAIN British Official Wireless (Received June 1, 6.30 pan.) RUGBY, May 31.
