POLICE COMMISSIONER TO RETIRE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 1, 12.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 31. The Police Medical Board lias recommended three months’ leave of absence owing to temporary unfitness, to Police Commissioner Mackay, who recently asked to be allowed to retire on the ground of ill-health. Since then there has been a lively controversy, the press involving among other things the question of the persecution of the Commissioner. The Government has granted three months’ leave to the Commissioner.
