SUPREME COURT

GISBORNE SESSIONS By Telegraph-Fresr A»»oclatlon GISBOF.NE, May 31. Only one case was referred to the Grand Jury at the Gisborne session of the Supreme Court which opened to-day, a young man charged with indecent assault on a young girl. Mr Justice Reed indicated to the Grand Jury that the evidence against the accused was not convincing, tne girl’s statement to her father shortly after the incident being inconsistent with that given in the Lower Court hearing. His Honour added that the girl’s story suggested a surprising degree of precocity on her part. The Grand Jury returned no bill. The Court is engaged in the re-trial of Lorenzo Griguol, charged with indecent assault on a Maori boy, the jury having disagreed at the initial trial.
