THE GERALDINE MAYORALTY

To the Editor of " The Timaru Herald ” Sir,—lt is a pity that some of Mr Macdonald’s supporters have not allowed him to withdraw from the mayoral election in Geraldine. It is obvious to all that Mr Macdonald is far past the age when he is able to carry out the duties of Mayor. He is not a strong man, and finds it difficult to attend meetings of the Council at night, during the winter months, and it is not fair to ask him to do so, so that his friends are doing hyn a disservice in asking him to seek re-election. —I am, etc., ELECTOR. Geraldine. May 5.
