Won by a length and a half, third horse eight lengths away. A protest against the winner was dismissed. Many horses “gave away time’’ to start in the inter-dominion championships, their owners being encouraged to do so by a condition that penalties for wins would be based on their ordinary assessments. There are now many anomalies apparent. Based on Indianapolis 4.20, the limit in the two miles stage was 4.25. and among the starters were horses with marks as slow as 4.31. U Scott won from 4.25, and after a penalty is Imposed is still on 4.29 in an open handicap. Nervie’s Last was second in a 4.25 event, and remains on 4.28. Blair Athol from the equivalent of 4.25, Was placed at all four distances in the championship series, but his line mark of 4.29 remains undisturbed. Others which tackled the job from 4.25 were Big Author 4.27, Frisco Boy 4.33, Rocks Ahead 4.27.
