TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Members of the Pleasant Valley Tennis Club took part in a very enjoyable tournament on Easter Monday. when the season was officially closed. During the year two challenge cups were given to the club for a women's singles handicap tournament and men’s singles by Mr F. R. Wilks and Mr C. Stringer. Play resulted as follows: Stringer Cup First Round—K. Hibbs (owe 15-30) won by default from R. Murphy (tec 15), R. Womer (owe 15-30) won by | default from J. Mulvey (rec. 15), C. Leary (set) beat E. Webb (owe 40-30), H. Womer (owe 15) won by default from J. Leary (owe 30), R. Wilks (owe 15-30) 6 beat W. Leary (rec. 30) 3, W. Payne a bye. I Second Round —K. Hibbs 6 beat R. j Womer 2, C. Padgett. Miss Ethel Hughes, Wellington, spent the Easter holidays with her parents, Mr and Mis T. H. Hughes, Hilton Road. Mr McGill. Wellington, and Miss E. Thompson, Timaru. were also the guests of Mrs Hughes during Easter. Mr D. Tiplady and Mr A. Tipiadv Weedons, spent Eastei with Mr anr Mrs G. Tiplady, Pleasant Valley. Mr D. Cornish and Mr C. Curaugh Weedons, were the guests of Mrs lady during Easter
