ANGLICAN CLUB The annual meeting of the Timaru Anglican Harrier Club was held in St. Mary's Hall recently, the Rev. H. G. Norris presiding. Business for the coming season was discussed, and officers were .lected. Mr A. S. Elworthy was again nominated as patron, and the other offices were filled by th* 1 following:—President. Rev. H. G. Norris; vice-presi-dent. Revs. Archdeacon Monaghan. Nelson Wright. T. Hopkins, and Messrs W. G. Tweedy. K. I. Taylor, Raymond Wright, A. R. Berry. W. Craig, G. H. Andrews. H. Darby .nd H. W. Brownie; clup captain. R. E Taylor; vice-cap-tain. B. R. Jones; hon. secretary, J. L. Knowles hon. treasurer, H. R. Preston; committee, Messrs W. Tubb, A. H. Williams, A. Craig, I. Bennett; coach, F. King; handicappers, Messrs F. Knowles; hon treasurer. H. R. Presgates, Messrs F. King, H. R. Preston. E. Taylor and B. R. Jones. New members for the season were nominated as follows:—M. L. Breen, W. V. Castle. A. McLeod. G. Edlin, C. Humphries, T. Hob'.is, H. Dyson and R. Lower. Mr J. N. Darby, who for many years gave his time and energy to the service of the Club, ' as added to the list of life members. The preceding season was most successful from every point of view, strong teams being entered in all events, it was reported. The senior teams ran prominently during the season, especially R. E. Taylor and E. S. Darby, who were the club's representatives in the Takahe-Akaroa A team, A. H. Williams representing Anglican in the 3 team. The Waimate-Timaru road relay race was won very easily by the B team, which was composed largely of juniors, and therefore a most unexpected victory. Following this racQ the juniors had a wonderfully successful season, winning the Maxwell the Junior Orr-Wateer, and were instrumental in South Canterbury winning the junior championship at Christchurch. The Anglican nembers of the team comprised B. Jones. K. Ramsay and J. Knowles. This year the list of trophies had been added to by Mr R. N. McGlashan, the trophy' to be competed for as the Committee approves The Club had been unfortunate in the loss of its honorary' secretary, Mr L. H. Dangerfield. He had for many years been one of the mainstays of the club, not only as a capable secretary, but also as a most e thusiastic runner. The club wished him a very enjoyable trip to the Old Country.
