It is believed that he is aiming at an ItaloPolish rapprochement which, like the Italo-British talks, is designed to redress the balance of power in Central Europe which is now weighted in Germany’s favour by the Austro-German union.

France supports both the ItaloBritish and Italo-Polish talks.
