ENGLAND’S PAST BEING PROBED. — Important excavation work is being carried out at the Tower of London and has already revealed something of the ancient buildings on the site. In 1238 a palace was built by Henry 111, and this was superseded by a bulwark in the reign of Edward lE. This in turn gave way to a palisade in the reign of Charles II. and the old causeway, covered up in 1717, are all likely to be revealed.
