GAS EMPLOYEES
DOMINION AWARD SOUGHT By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 31. Representatives of a number of other trade unions attended the hearing of the Domion Gas Works Employees’ dispute to-day, to lodge objection to any attempt to include their members in the Dominion award sought by the Gas Workers’ Union. The situation was adjusted by Mr Justice O’Regan, intimating that the purpose of the sitting was to hear certain evidence only, and any representations could be heard on Monday, when the major hearing of the dispute would take place. It was pointed out to the Court that the parties to the dispute had arrived at an agreement on classification, and some of the objecting unions, now had no reason for objection. The classification was based mainly on the systems adopted for gasmaking in the Dominion, it was the first time such a classification had been made in New Zealand. .
