CRICKET SOUTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION

Bristol Cup Match On Saturday CONFERENCE ON RULES The fortnightly meeting of the South Canterbury Cricket Association was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs A. E. Lawrence (chairman), A. G. Simmers, R. Wilson, V. Hahn, W. Tubb, E. Earwaker, W. C. Gow and M. J. Angland (hon. sec.). The South Canterbury Hockey Association wrote agreeing to the association having the use of the Park Ground on April 2 and 16. It was decided to thank the association for its action. The Christchurch Suburban Association wrote advising that its team would visit Timaru on Easter Saturday. The secretary reported that the Borough Curator (Mr A. W. Anderson), had generously offered to prepare a wicket for the match. Messrs V. Hahn, A. Colville and K. Wilson were appointed a selection committee to select association teams for matches on Saturday. Bristol Cup Competition The match committee reported that the final of the Bristol Cup competition between Old Boys (Timaru) and Fairfield (Ashburton) would be held on Saturday, play to commence at 11 a.m. The Ashburton association wrote advising that Messrs H. T. Pritchard, S. W. Keor and R. T. Drennan would represent at the conference regarding proposed alterations to the Bristol Cup rules. The Waimate association also advised that three delegates would attend the conference. On the motion of Messrs Tubb and Simmers, the following were appointed to represent the association, Messrs A. E. Lawrence, F. S. Cave and M. J. Angland. The conference will be held on Saturday afternoon. It was decided to hold a re-union of past and present players on April 13. Trophies won during the season will be presented at the re-union. Saturday’s Fixture South Canterbury v. Waimate, at Park, 1.30 p.m.. Umpires: Messrs W. Gow and G. Luke. South Canterbury first grade v. South Canterbury second grade, 1.30 p.m. Bristol Cup Fairfield (Ashburton) v. Old Boys (Timaru) at Rectory. Umpires: Messrs C. T. Moor (Timaru) and G. Willis (Ashburton). The following teams have been selected to represent the association against Waimate R. Fair, captain (Old Boys), B. Sara, wicketkeeper, H. Purcell, L. Smith (Timaru), R. Reynolds, A. Colville (Temuka), F. Stack (Geraldine), H. Button, A. Kellar, W. Wellford (Star), D. Watt (School). Reserves: H. Pateman (Timaru), R. Taylor (Star). Second grade against first grade team: McKay (Fairview), Starr (West End), Kent (Fairview), Bradley (Fairview), I. Cameron (West End), Av?ris (West End), Cowles (Star A), Koene.3 (Pareora), A. Cameron (West End), A. White (Railway), R. Weir (Star B). Reserves: Williams (Star B), Raines (West End). The first grade colts team to play the second grade representatives will be selected to-day.
