WOMEN'S INSTITUTE At the seventh annual meeting of the Teschemaker Women’s Institute, Mrs H. Miles presided over a fair attendance and extended a welcome to the group convener, Mrs W. E. Mills. One new member was welcomed. The president presented a comprehensive report on the year’s activities which showed that the year had been a busy and successful one. The balance sheet, which showed a credit balance, was read by the treasurer (Mrs Keown) and adopted. On behalf of the members Mrs A. Mills proposed a vote of thanks to the president for her report and untiring service throughout the year. Mrs Mills and Miss McFarlane were appointed delegates to attend the Federation meeting at Geraldine. The forthcoming flower show to be held at Pareora was discussed and stewards arranged for. The election of officers for the coming year resulted as follows:—president, Mrs H. Miles; vice-president, Mrs O’Connell; committee, Mesdames Miles. O’Connell, Keown, Gregan and Misses A. McFarlane and P. Gregan; competition stewards, Mesdames Keown and Mills; auditor, Mr E. Mills. Prizes for most points in competitions
held throughout the year were won as follows: —arts and crafts, Mrs Keown 1, Miss McFarlane 2; cookery, Mrs Keown 1, Miss McFarlane 2. Bloom, Mrs Powell 1, Miss McFarlane 2. The monthly competitions resulted as follows—pikelets, Mrs O’Connell 1, Mrs Horsburgh .2, Miss McFarlane 3; bloom, Mrs Horsburgh and Mrs Miles 1 equal, Mrs Powell 2, Mrs Keown 3.
