LAWN TENNIS ST. PETER’S DEFEATED Only one game was played in Temuka on Saturday in the Temuka Town and Country Tennis Association’s competitions, Pleasant Valley beating St. Peter’s B grade by 10 sets to six. The results were (Pleasant Valley names first):— Women’s singles—Miss M. Webb lost to Miss J. Joynt 5-6. Miss E. Padgett lost to Miss E. M’ahan 2-6, Miss T. Brophy lost to Miss E. Edgeler 2-6, Miss R. Padgett beat Miss B. Joynt 6-4. Men’s singles—T. Webb beat R. N. Clark 6-2, R. Worner beat C. W. Dassler 6-4, G. H. Worner lost to K. Browne 4-6, K. Hibbs lost to H. Pierce 2-6. Women’s doubles—Misses J. Joynt and Mahan lost to Misses Webb and E. Padgett 1-6, Misses Edgeler and B. Joynt lost to Misses Brophy and R. Padgett 5-6. Men’s doubles —Webb and Worner lost to Clark and Dassler 3-6, Hibbs and H. Worner beat Browne and Pierce 6-2. Mixed doubles Miss Webb and Webb beat Miss J. Joynt and Clark 6-4. Miss E. Padgett and R. Worner beat Miss Mahan and Dassler 6-5, Miss Brophy and Hibbs beat Miss Edgeler and Browne 6-4, Miss R. Padgett and H. Worner beat Miss B. Joynt and Pierce 6-3.
