PLEASANT VALLEY
GIFT EVENING An enjoyable evening was spent in the Pleasant Valley Hall, when residents and friends of Miss Anne Murphy gave a gift evening in honour of her approaching marriage. Mr G. Martin, Mr T. Robinson, Mr H. Worner, and Mr H. Hill, senr., made reference to the good done by Miss Murphy for various clubs and organisations, and wished both Miss Murphy and Mr J. Mulvey, happiness and prosperity in their married life. On behalf of those present, Mr Hill presented the guest of the evening with many useful gifts. Mr Mulvey suitably replied on behalf of Miss Murphy. Dancing was enjoyed throughout the evening, winners of novelty dances being Mr and Mrs J. Smith, Mr Robinson and Miss McEvey. Mr R. FORTHCOMING GYMKHANA There was a good attendance at a further meeting of those interested in the forthcoming gymkhana to be held shortly in Mr Webb's paddock, Pleasant Valley. Mesdames G. Bailey, H. Bailey, I. Hughes and M. Brophy were added to the executive as representatives of the ladies. The action of the grounds committee in deciding to have all side-shows and other attractions outside the ring, was endorsed. Donations were received from Mr G. Martin (10/-) and Mr T. Oakley (2/6). Mr H. Hill, jnr., offered a supply of pottled honey. It was agreed that National dancing be included in the programme and that if possible the services of a Maori concert party be procured. In spite of the fact that the annual doubles tournament held under the auspices of the Temuka town and country tennis association was being held on gymkhana day, members of the tennis club signified their willingness to assist. PERSONAL Miss M. Edgar, who has been the guest of Mrs T. Masefield. Gapes Valley, has returned to Albury.
