Mrs J. Orbell, Auckland, is staying with Mrs H. M. Barker, Bidwill Street.

Mrs K. H. Hargreaves, Kakahu, is the guest of Mrs C. W. Birch, Dunedin.

Mr and Mrs Brian Savill, Raincliff, will be visitors to Waikari for the Bethell-Blunden wedding on Saturday.

Mrs G. A. Martin, Te Weka Street, will leave to-day for Dunedin to attend the wedding of her niece. Miss Dorothy Scoullar. Mrs A. E. Lyon and her daughter Miss E. H. Lyon, who have been the guests of Mrs Crerar, Seaview Terrace, have returned to Dunedin. Mrs Chilton Hayter, who has been spending a few days in Timaru. returned yesterday to “Rollesby”, Burke’s Pass. Miss Jean Hayter is at present visiting Timaru.

The engagement is announced of Elizabeth Thomson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs T. C. Begg. Timaru, and John, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Young, Southbridge.

Miss Mary Gabites, Wai-iti Road, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs Sydney Unwin, Winchester, at Waihi Gorge, has returned home. Miss Anne Gabites has returned from a visit to Wanganui.

Mr and Mrs Herbert Elworthy, “Craigmore,” will leave on Friday to attend the wedding of Nance, daughter of Mr and Mrs B. L. Blunden, Waikari, and Christopher, younger son of Mr and Mus Marmaduke Bethell. “Pahu Pastures,” Waikari, which will take place on Saturday at the Church of the Ascension, Waikari. Later Mr and Mrs Elworthy will visit the West Coast.
