February 23 7.39 pm CONDITIONS IN TIMARU Again yesterday there was no sunshine, the sky being heavily overcast, while conditions continually threatened rain. Tire day remained fine, however, and the temperature was warm. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer —31. Max. temp. —68.4. Min. temp, on grass—s9.B. Wind—E.S.E.2. Rainfall (24 hours to 9 a.m.)—,o2in. Rainfall to date this year—s.36in. Sunshine —Nil. Sunshine to date this year—27B.9hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch: The weather was fine with passing clouds and little or no sun. The maximum temperature was 66.6 degrees. A light wind blew from the east-north-east. At 5 p.m. the reading of the barometer, which was steady, was 30.23 inches. Ashburton: Though rain appeared to be at hand on several occasions on Monday and during the night, none fell in the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday. Geraldine: Dull and overcast. Temuka: Yesterday was dull. Following a light rain on Monday evening four points of rain was recorded. The maximum temperature was 71 degrees and the mniimum 56. The glass was falling last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Thermometer, max. 65.0; min. 59.8; rain, 5 points; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 35. Yesterday was dull and misty. Dunedin: Though heavy mist again enveloped the hills early yesterday morning conditions improved later and the sun shone practically throughout the day. The barometer fell to 30.20 inches.

CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to " Tice Timaru Herald " WELLINGTON, February 22 Winds—Light to fresh east to north. Weather —Mainly fair and warm but overcast at times in coastal areas with possibly some misty rain, more especially in the morning. Seas—Slight to moderate.
