The Minister of Defence (Mr Thorby) announces that giant flying boats, nearly twice the size of the Centaurus, are being designed in England for the trans-Tasman air service Mr Thorby pointed out that although the recent Tasman crossing by the Centaurus was highly successful, it would be impossible to make a commercial success of a service with aircraft of such a small payload as the Centaurus.
