QUEEN CARNIVAL
BIG FETE TO-DAY The biggest individual effort on the part of any of the separate Queen Committees in the West End Queen Carnival now in progress will be the West School Fete, to be held to-day. It will be opened by the Mayor. Special attractions will be a tug-of-war contest, children's marching groups and drill squads, with the Boys’ High School Band and the Timaru Harmonica Band in attendance. a flower show and coloured decorations.
The Sports Committee have a good night arranged for their community sing, with a yodelling and mouth organ recital, which should provide some novel items. Miss Keen’s star effort next week is Hec. Macdonald’s dance at St. Andrews, which is being looked forward to by Timaru’s dance fans. The Pleasant Point Ball, for the Highfleld Queen, Miss Drennan, features Sinclair’s Orchestra. Transport free will be provided for patrons. This queen’s committee is holding a card evening in the West End Hall, which will prove popular with prizes and supper.
