SOUTH CANTERBURY CENTRE At a meeting of the South Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic, Cycling and Axemen’s Union, there were present: Messrs H. H. Fraser (president), R. A. Rodgers, C. E. Hall and G. V. Tozer (secretary). The balance-sheet of the Christchurch to Timaru Road Race held on November 27 showed a net loss of £14,0,6. The cost of running the race was £7B/1/2 and the proceeds from donations, entry fees, gate money, etc.. £64/0/8- Those present considered this to be fairly satisfactory for the first race which had been run in conjunction with the North Canterbury Centre on a 50-50 basis. Thanks were expressed to all officials, to Mesdames Drew and Frampton who took charge of th? refreshments for competitors and officials, to the Timaru Pipe Band for their attendance, and to the South Canterbury Subcentre of ethe Amateur Athletic Union for arranging such a splendid sports meeting.
