February 23 7.39 pm CONDITION’S IN TIMARU The unsettled weather continued yesterday after overnight rain. There were two hours sunshine, but then the sky clouded over and in the evening a drizzling rain set in. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were: Barometer—3o.ll. Max. temp.—7o. Min. temp, on grass— s 4.4. Wind—N.N.E.2. Rainfall (24 hours to 9 p.m.)—.o4ins. Rainfall to date this year—s.2sins. Sunshine—2.2 hours. Sunshine to date this year—27l.9hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch— Yesterday was dull and overcast with a threat of aui. The maximum temperature was 66.2 degrees. A very light south-westerly wind in the morning changed later to a moderate east-north-easterly. The barometer registered 30.218 inches and was falling slowly. Ashburton—There was a further heavy fall of rain on Thursday night, 29 points being registered. The morning broke dull, but with a promise of a fine day, and conditions continued to improve through the day. The breeze was from the north-east. Geraldine— Dull and overcast; showery in late afternoon. Temuka— After light rain on Thursday evening when six points fell, yesterday was fine and warm with a light changeable wind. The maximum temperature was 70 degrees and the minimum 52. The glass was steady last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday)—Thermometer: maximum 65.2; minimum. 55.0; rain, 2 points; bright sunshine. 1 hour 30 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours—9B. Yesterday was fine and warm. Dunedin— Yesterday the weather was mild with practically no wind and the sky was clear for the greater part of the day. The barometer fell to 30.23 inches, but was rising again last night. CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to “ The Timaru Herald.” WELLINGTON, February 18. Winds—Light to fresh north-easterly. Weather—Cloudy on the coast with possibly a little drizzling rain in places, but otherwise fair to fine; temperatures moderate ' ut rising. Seas—Slight to moderate.
