THE NEW PIXIE COBBLER Tinker Doodle was a busy little pixie who made shoes of all kinds and sizes for the other pixie people. He was the only cobbler in Pixietown, and everyone loved him because he was so polite and kind. Because he liked his work, he was always bright and cheery, and I don't think the pixies ever saw him with a frown. One day while he was at his work, a letter came to him from a pixie called Peter Pickle, who wanted Tinker Doodle to come and have a holiday with him, as it was summer time. Tinker Doodle knew Peter Pickle was a kind pixie who lived a few miles away from the town, and he thought the holiday would be lovely. But who was to look after his shop while he was' away? Most of the pixies would be having their holidays, and would not want to look after bis shop. He could net close the shop, because he was the only shoemaker, and someone would be sure to want a new pair of shoes when they came back from their holiday. Everyone who came into his shop was asked if they would like to look after his shop while he was away, but they all seemed to be going away themselves. One day a shabby pixie came into the shop, and Tinker Doodle asked this pixie the same question. To the cobbler’s surprise the shabby pixie said that if Tinker Doodle thought he was good enough he would gladly look after the shop, because he was looking for a job, as he was very poor. Tinker Doodle was over-joyed and gave the p'xie a new outfit, told him what to do, and went off for his holiday.

He had a lovely time with Peter Pickle, and when he returned he was so glad with the way the pixie had kept his shop, that he asked him if he would like to help him to make shoes, - d earn some money for himself. The pixie said he would just love to, and now there are two pixie cobblers tn Pixie-town, and all because of the holiday Tinker Doodle had. <5 Marks and a Merit Card awarded to Agnes Thomson, Timaru.)
