TIMARU RECORDS (Corrected to Summer Time.) Sun rose at Timaru to-day 5.53 a.m.; sets 7.29 p.m. High water at Timaru 6.13 p.m. today; 6.36 a.m. to-morrow. PHASES OF THE MOON Last quarter . February 23 7.39 pm. CONDITIONS IN TIMARU There was no sunshine yesterday, conditions remaining dull and threatening although the temperature was mild. There were several showers of rain last evening. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— B altimeter —30.13. Max. temp.—6s.B. Min. temp, on grass—s2. Wind—E.3. Rainfall (24 hours to 9 p.m.)—.lSins. Rainfall to date this year—s.2lins. Sunshine —Nil. Sunshine to date this year—269.7hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch: After a dull and threatening morning a heavy shower of rain fell about noon and light rain continued intermittently during the afternoon and evening. The fall at 5 p.m. totalled 23 points. The maximum temperature was 63.7, and there was a moderate south-west wind. Ashburton: A fall of 13 points of rain yesterday morning, made the third successive morning with rain between 7 and 8 o'clock. There was a threat of further showers throughout the day. At 9 a.m. the barometer stood at 30.10 inches, and the wind was from the south-east. Geraldine: Showery throughout the day. Temuka: Yesterday was overcast with rain threatening. The maximum temperature was 62 degrees and the minimum 54. A light rain fell toward midday and two points of rain was recorded. The glass was steady last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Thermometer, maximum, 62.2; minimum, 56.5; rain, 56 points; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 66. Yesterday was overcast with scattered showers In the morning. Most of the 56 points of rain fell in a cloudburst near mid-night. Dunedin: Bright sunshine with passing clouds and a fresh, cool breeze from the north-east were experienced yesterday. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees. The barometer fell slightly at mid-day and was steady later at 30.30 inches. CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to " The Timaru Herald." WELLINGTON, February 17. Winds—Moderate to strong east to north-east. Weather —For the most part fair to cloudy, but with possibly an occasional light drizzle in coastal areas; temperatures milder. Seas: Moderate.
