ARREST OF WELSHMAN

A Welshman named Jerry Morgan has complained to the British ConsulGeneral that the Japanese arrested him on December 25 and held him for four days during which time he was maltreated until his plight was disclosed. It was alleged that he had attempted to acquire three Japanese oil barges. LOANS FULLY MET OFFICIAL CHINESE STATEMENT By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, January 7. A cablegram received from Hankow by the Chinese Consul states that although foreign trade has been affected by the war, all foreign loans secured by Customs revenue have keen fully met in the financial year for 1937.
