THE ADOLF HITLER CANAL, which is replacing the Klodnitz Canal built by Frederick the Great, is now more than half completed. Begun in 1933, it connects Gleiwitz with Kosel, a distance of about twenty-five miles, and will provide a new route to Berlin, via the River Oder, from the Upper Silesian mining centres.
