A mystery SOS message, purporting to come from the coastal vessel Himatangi was received in Sydney this afternoon, resulting in several vessels, including the destroyer Vendetta, preparing to go to the vessel’s assistance. It was later discovered that the Himitangi was safe and she arrived at Sydney to-night. Her captain disclaimed all knowledge of the SOS.
