NOT VERY BRIGHT
PROSPECTS FOR WELLINGTON WOOL SALE By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, January 7 The prospects for the second Wellington wool sale which opens on Monday are not favourable, and it is very doubtful whether prices will reach the level of the December sale. Cable messages from Bradford state that the market has a falling tendency, and that little business is being done. Users of tops are well covered for their immediate needs and are keeping out of the market as much as possible. It was reported that many of the buyers were pessimistic regarding the wool outlook, and that cable messages from Continental houses indicated that a sharp fall in prices was to be expected next week. One authority said the Wellington sale would be fortunate, indeed, if it made the prices paid on December 8. The limit fixed for Monday’s sale was 30,000 bales, but the catalogues total only 28,444 bales.
