The milling returns for the first nine months of 1937 on the Rand show that records will be made in milling, ounces produced, revenue and profits when the returns for the whole year are made up. The tonnage milled on the Witwatersrand during the nine months show an increase of 2,132,810 tons compared with the corresponding period. The output increased by 278,095 ounces, valued at £2,305,296. The average value of gold was 6d per oz lower. The average costs per ton were 18/111 higher when compared with 1936.
