TABLE DECORATION
The soft light of candles is always appreciated. Tapering candles of bright scarlet, placed in chromiumplated holders of modern design, make a happy combination. Glass is used for the beautifully made foxgloves in their bowl of moss. They could be used for table decoration, or placed in the hall to give a welcoming note of attractive colour. An aquarium of deep-sea monsters makes a novel centrepiece and will entertain your guests as well as delight the eye with colour. Glass in bright, clear shades is used for the rocks, seaweed, bubbles and tiercelooking fish floating about in their watery bowl-home. Real everlasting flowers, carefully dried so that their colours remain fresh and bright, can be bought in baskets of different sizes, and will remain gay and cheerful-looking all the winter. Mixed colourings or arrangements in one colour only can be chosen. A new version of the Japanese garden is an attractively shaped bowl. Exquisitely made lilies, primula and flowers of many hues are grouped in borders round the little house and would give a lovely touch of colour to any scheme of table decoration.
COFFEE ABSORBS ODOURS
Placed on a lid inverted over a saucepan in which cabbage, cauliflower, or similar vegetables are being cooked, a tablespoon of coffee will absorb the odours. The lid should be set lightly to one side so the steam will tend to curl over the coffee.
