Said that when the late Sir Jas. Barrie wrote “My Lady Nicotine,” his well-known book in praise of tobacco, he hadn’t learned to smoke! But he certainly made up for lost time once he started, for his pipe became his inseparable companion throughout the remainder of a busy life, and he soon discovered, like so many famous writers, that “the weed divine” is indispensable when creative work is attempted. It’s worthy of note, by the way, that the smoking mixture he invented (now probably long since forgotten) made much money for the tobacconist who gave it to the world. No doubt the fame achieved by its originator helped considerably to boom its sale. But almost any really firstclass blend will sell once it becomes generally known. Witness the overwhelming success of our toasted New Zealand tobaccos! All the five blends, Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Riverhead Gold and Desert Gold are now in practically universal request and the smoker who once changes over to "toasted” will never be satisfied with anything else. ....
