PLEDGE TO FIGHT NAZISM
SUCCESS OF COUNTER PROPAGANDA INTENSIFIED ACTIVITIES OF SECRET POLICE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, January 3. The “Daily Sketch” reports that the dreaded Nazi secret police have raided thousands of houses, offices and flats throughout Germany in a desperate attempt to discover the men behind the Opposition, whose yellow leaflets announcing a pledge to overthrow’ Herr Hitler, or die, have flooded Germany during the week-end and have even been delivered to Herr Hitler himself. The circulars claim that the movement started in 1935. and its followers now number hundreds of thousands, in addition to millions of sympathisers. Nazi spies and members of the secret service have for two years failed to catch members of the Opposition, and have not even traced their secret wireless cars, which are daily broadcasting against Herr Hitler. Although huge rewards have been offered, nobody has claimed the blood money. The Congress on January 1 was held within a mile of Herr Hitler’s palace. Thirty-seven delegates discussed methods to fight for freedom. It was recognised that difficulties lay ahead, but that the dictatorship was confronted with unbroken ranks of adversaries.
The real opinion of a German majority was without precedent made public through tens of thousands of pamphlets criticising the Nazi leaders and their achievements.
